300–320 Hours. A Lifetime of Career Possibilities

When you think about changing careers, you might picture years of school, sitting in a classroom every day and trying to figure out how to fit it all around work, family and everyday life.
But starting a new career doesn't always require years of education or putting your life on hold.
At Swanson's Canadian Institute of Electrolysis, our comprehensive electrolysis programs are 300 or 320 hours. And only a portion of those hours require you to be away from home for in person training.
Your theory education is completed online, from your own home and on your own time, giving you the flexibility to work through it around your existing schedule.
Then, depending on the program you choose, you'll complete 120 or 200 hours of supervised, hands on practical training.
It's a relatively small investment of time for skills that could become the foundation of a career lasting decades.
Learn the Theory on Your Own Time
One of the biggest barriers to making a career change is figuring out how to fit education into an already busy life.
That's why the theory portion of our programs is designed to be flexible.
Depending on the program you choose, you'll complete your theory education independently online, from home. You can work through your studies around your job, family and other responsibilities rather than attending a classroom every day.
Once your theory requirements are completed, you'll put that knowledge into practice during your supervised hands on training.
120–200 Hours of Hands On Training
Electrolysis isn't something we believe you can learn from a textbook alone.
Developing proper insertion technique, learning to select appropriate treatment settings, understanding how different hairs and skin respond to treatment and becoming comfortable working with real people takes hands on experience.
That's why our programs include either 120 or 200 hours of supervised practical training, depending on the training path you choose.
Practical schedules can vary by instructor and location. Some students may complete their practical training intensively over a shorter period, while other instructors offer schedules that allow students to complete their hours more gradually.
This gives students options when choosing a training path that works with their lives.
Two Paths to Becoming an Electrologist
Swanson's offers two comprehensive training options:
320 Hour Program
120 hours of online theory completed from home
200 hours of supervised practical training
300 Hour Program
180 hours of online theory completed from home
120 hours of supervised practical training
The programs are structured differently, but both combine theoretical education with the hands on experience that is so important when learning electrolysis.
Because while we're proud to offer a career training option that doesn't require years of schooling, we don't believe in cutting corners.
It's not about completing your education in the fewest number of days. It's about making every hour count.
A Small Chapter of Your Life Could Start a Whole New One
Consider 300 or 320 hours in the context of an entire working life.
The theory can be completed from your own home. Your required in person training is 120 to 200 hours. And what you learn during that time could become the foundation for a career you continue building for ten, twenty or even thirty plus years.
Once trained, you might choose to work for an established electrolysis business, add electrolysis to an existing practice or build a business of your own.
Some electrologists work full time. Others work a few days per week. Some begin electrolysis alongside another career and gradually transition as their clientele grows.
There isn't one right way to build an electrolysis career.
A Career That Can Change With You
One of the advantages of electrolysis is that the career you build today doesn't have to be the career you have forever.
Your schedule can change. Your business can grow. Your clientele can grow with you.
You may begin by working part time and eventually transition to full time. You might start by working for someone else and later open your own studio. You may choose to continue your education, invest in advanced equipment or expand your business in directions you hadn't even considered when you first started.
Your initial training is the foundation.
What you build from there is up to you.
Where Could 300–320 Hours Take You?
When you're considering a career change, it's natural to focus on how much time it will take.
But it's also worth thinking about how much time that investment could give back to you.
300 to 320 hours of education. Only 120 to 200 hours of required in person practical training. And the possibility of a career you can continue building for decades.
A year from now, those training hours could already be behind you.
And a completely different career could be ahead of you.
